UNIR: What happens when we mix substances?. We can divide matter into two groups: pure substances and mixtures. Pure substances have got only one component. Mixtures are two or more substances mixed together. In heterogeneous mixtures, we mix two or more substances. We can see the separate parts. When we put sugar in tea and mix it, we make a homogeneous mixture. In this heterogeneous mixture, we can see the cereal and the milk. In this homogeneous mixture, we can´t see the sugar and tea separately anymore.

Unir: There are many ways to separate mixtures. For example, filtration and evaporation. Evaporation: to separate a homogeneous mixture, such as sugar mixed in water, we can use evaporation. Filtration: to separate a heterogeneous mixture, such as pasta and water, we can use filtration. When the water evaporates, the sugar stays in the glass. The water goes through the colander into the sink. The pasta stays in the colander.
